Week 1/Semana 1- Thundercats vs. Bufalos

S8LogoWeek 1 of the Regular Season started Saturday night, October 17 in Mexicali, Baja California where the 2015 Summer Season Champion Bufalos Mexicali hosted the 2013, 2014 Summer, 2014 Winter Champion Duo Sports Thundercats. The Bufalos started the game strong and looked to be picking up where they left off at the end of the Summer season jumping out to a 12-0 lead on the strength of 2 Paul Haro TD runs. The Thundercats stuck back when Justin Mc Kenzie found Christian Alanzo-Osorio for on an 11 yard TD pass to cut the lead to 12-6. A Safety on a botched snap in the endzone put the Bufalos up 14-6 before Justin Mc Kenzie found Christian Alonzo-Osorio again on a 37 yard TD pass to cut it to 14-12. However just before half QB Achilles Pulido ran in an 6 yard TD plus the extra point to push the score the 21-12 in favor of the Bufalos at the half. The second half started with some defensive fireworks by the Thundercats as RB/LB Manny Pires scored on a 39 yard interception return for a TD followed by a PAT to cut the lead to 21-18 Bufalos. After a defensive stand the Thundercats took over again and QB Justin Mc Kenzie on a well times scramble scored from 11 yards out to put the Thundercats out in front 25-21 following the extra point. On the following possesion WR/DB Christian Alonzo-Osorio came up with an interception in the endzone setting up a Phillip Williams 31 yard TD and after the PAT a 32-21 Thundercats lead. Paul Haro and the Bufalos were not done and scored on the first play from scrimmage on their next possession. The fireworks in the 4th quarter continued as Mc Kenzie to Alonzo-Osorio connected for a third time to extend the lead to 40-21 on a 39 yard scoring strike followed by a 2point conversion. The Bufalos then recorded another safety on a bad Thundercats snap to make it 40-23, scored on the ensuinwith a TD pass from Pulido to Haro followed the 2 point conversion to push it to 40-31 Thundercats. Another stop and the Bufalos scored on Pulido to Shava TD pass to cut the lead to 40-37 late in the 4th quarter. With only about a minute left in the game Mc Kenize connected to Manny Pires on a screen pass that went 41 yards for the score plus the conversion to put the Thundercats up 47-37, on the ensuing drive DB Eder Espinosa recorded the Thundercats 3rd interception on the day to seal the deal.
