Despues dos semanas finalmente tenemos una fecha y lugar para la gran final en Super 8 Feminil. Los dos mejores equipos en la liga las Aguilas Marinas Ensenada y Killer Bees Mexicali van a jugar en Ensenada, el Domingo el 25 de Septiembre.

La liga quieren pedir una disculpa a los Killer Bees y sus fans para una problema con communicacion entre Aguila Marinas y Killer Bees sobre el juego en la fecha el 11 de Septiembre. La liga tienen una grupo privado en donde los equipos confirman sus horarios y lugares para los juegos y en la semana antes el 11 de Septiembre no teniamos confirmacion de este juego y por eso las Killer Bees no tienen la opportunidad a jugar para tener la final en Mexicali. La liga y los dos equipos trabajan juntos para dos semanas a resovler esta problema y ahora enceuntramos una solucion a esta problema. Pido discupla para la confusion y ahora tenemos la final  entre los equipos que merecen la opportunidad a ser campeonas.

Saturday, September 3 will be the  Super 8 Bowl for the Super 8 Baja Championship during the Summer season. The game will feature the Duo Sports Thundercats 7-0 vs. Diablos Ensenada 6-1. This will be the 3rd time these 2 teams have met for a Super 8 Championship with the Thundercats coming out on top in both previous encounters when the championship on the line in very close games, 51-47 in 2014 and 43-36 in 2015.

Duo Sports Thundercats (7-0)

Offense: 306 points, #1 Offense (43 points per game)

The Thundercats have led the Super 8 in offense 6 consecutive seasons and are appearing in their 6th consecutive championship final. The key to the game is getting the offense into a rhythm, once the Thundercat offense is in rhythm they are nearly impossible to stop, 11 different players have scored for the Thundercats this season.

Defense: 109 points #2 Defense (15 points per game)

The Thundercats Defense has one of the easiest yet most difficult jobs in the Super 8 Football League, they just have to contain opponents long enough to let the leagues #1 offense kick into gear however the Thundercats defense also needs to generate stops and not allow opposing teams to try to eat up the clock to keep the 43 point per game offense off the field. The #2 ranking is the best ranking so far as a defense for the Thundercats previously mostly finish in 3rd.The las 2 times the Thundercats were ranked #2 in defense the team finished the regular season undefeated during the 2014 winter and 2015 summer seasons. Key to the game force turnovers and or 3 and outs don’t allow the Diablos to possess the football.

Overall: The Thundercats won the 2013, 2014 Summer, 2014 Winter, and 2015 Winter championships and were league runner up during the 2015 Summer season, this marks the 6th consecutive trip to the Championship game.

Diablos Ensenada (6-1)

Offense: 236 points, #2 Offense (33 points per game)

Much like the Thundercats offense the Diablos offense has been solid averaging over 33 points a game en route to the Diablos 4th championship game appearance. The Diablos are a pass heavy offense that when it’s on is one of the most deadly in the league. Keys to the game for the Diablos are to strike fast, a hot start is what has had the Diablos leading their 2 previous championship games against the Thundercats well into the 4th quarter, they will need that type of start while the Thundercat offense is reving it’s engines. The second key is limit turnovers and keep time of possession, the Diablos in both finals losses were victimized by second half turnovers which allowed the red hot T-Cat offense to get back on the field and score points.

Defense: 87 points, #1 Defense (12 points per game)

The Diablos defense has been king of the hill in each of the 4 complete seasons they have played. Being extremely stingy and allowing the fewest points of any Super 8 team outside of the old Astros Mexicali. The Diablos defensively are led by a solid front 4 and create tons of havoc in the opponents backfield. The Diablos have however been a little suspect in the secondary at times and this has been their downfall in big games. Keys to the game the Diablos front must keep up it’s pressure and the secondary has to bend but not break as the #1 rated Thundercats offense has put up nearly 30 TD’s in the air this season.

The Diablos have been the best team in the Super 8 over the course of the past few years having undefeated regular seasons in the 2014 Summer Season (did not play winter 2014) 2015 Winter Season (did not play Summer 2015), and 2 1 loss seasons in 2012 and the current 2016 season. Only the Astros Mexicali and Duo Sports Thundercats have defeated the Diablos in Baja. The Diablos won the 2012 Super 8 Championship and were league runner ups in the 2014 Summer Season and 2015 Winter Season.

On Saturday, July 2 the Super 8 Football league kicked off it’s Summer Arena league season with the now annual triple header at Rosarito Beach, Baja California,Mexico.

Game 1 saw the Siervos Tijuana defeat the new comers Rosarito/Tijuana Spartans 20-18.

Game 2 was the game of the week featuring the top 2 teams in the league, the Diablos Ensenada and Duo Sports Thundercats. The Thundercats won the game 24-14.

Game 3 was the Lynx Tijuana vs. All Blacks Tijuana in a game between 2 teams that were both founded in the winter season of 2014. The All Blacks won 38-12.

The Super 8 Baja League was recently spotlighted on a travel show named “Crossin South” which highlights local sports,food,events,and tourists spots all across Baja California, Mexico.

The Arena Championship Series is another step in the Super 8’s expansion into the USA,with the Duo Sports Thundercats (2011 So Cal Arena Tournament Champions and 4 Time Super 8 Champions in Mexico), Desert Sentinels and High Desert 49ers playing a round robin tournament kicking off Saturday,January 16, 2016 at Sportsplex USA in Santee,California.

The first match up on the 16th is the Duo Sports Thundercats vs.Desert Sentinels,the winner will play the following week January 23 vs. the High Desert 49ers.

The Duo Sports Thundercats claimed their 4th Super 8 Arena Championship on December 19, 2015 defeating the Diablos Ensenada 43-36.

Week 1 of the Regular Season started Saturday night, October 17 in Mexicali, Baja California where the 2015 Summer Season Champion Bufalos Mexicali hosted the 2013, 2014 Summer, 2014 Winter Champion Duo Sports Thundercats. The Bufalos started the game strong and looked to be picking up where they left off at the end of the Summer season jumping out to a 12-0 lead on the strength of 2 Paul Haro TD runs. The Thundercats stuck back when Justin Mc Kenzie found Christian Alanzo-Osorio for on an 11 yard TD pass to cut the lead to 12-6. A Safety on a botched snap in the endzone put the Bufalos up 14-6 before Justin Mc Kenzie found Christian Alonzo-Osorio again on a 37 yard TD pass to cut it to 14-12. However just before half QB Achilles Pulido ran in an 6 yard TD plus the extra point to push the score the 21-12 in favor of the Bufalos at the half. The second half started with some defensive fireworks by the Thundercats as RB/LB Manny Pires scored on a 39 yard interception return for a TD followed by a PAT to cut the lead to 21-18 Bufalos. After a defensive stand the Thundercats took over again and QB Justin Mc Kenzie on a well times scramble scored from 11 yards out to put the Thundercats out in front 25-21 following the extra point. On the following possesion WR/DB Christian Alonzo-Osorio came up with an interception in the endzone setting up a Phillip Williams 31 yard TD and after the PAT a 32-21 Thundercats lead. Paul Haro and the Bufalos were not done and scored on the first play from scrimmage on their next possession. The fireworks in the 4th quarter continued as Mc Kenzie to Alonzo-Osorio connected for a third time to extend the lead to 40-21 on a 39 yard scoring strike followed by a 2point conversion. The Bufalos then recorded another safety on a bad Thundercats snap to make it 40-23, scored on the ensuinwith a TD pass from Pulido to Haro followed the 2 point conversion to push it to 40-31 Thundercats. Another stop and the Bufalos scored on Pulido to Shava TD pass to cut the lead to 40-37 late in the 4th quarter. With only about a minute left in the game Mc Kenize connected to Manny Pires on a screen pass that went 41 yards for the score plus the conversion to put the Thundercats up 47-37, on the ensuing drive DB Eder Espinosa recorded the Thundercats 3rd interception on the day to seal the deal.

Duo Sports Thundercats 47- Bufalos Mexicali 37

The Super 8 Football League for the second year in a row is running 2 seasons, this year the Fall season kicks off in October and finish in December with the newly named Baja Bowl to replace last year’s Winter Bowl Championship. This also is possibly the most complete and competitive Super 8 season to date. 5 of the 6 teams in entered in this fall season have play off experience and 3 of the 6 have won Super 8 championships. Here is a preview of the season and the 6 teams playing this winter:

Bufalos Mexicali- The Bufalos are coming off winning the 2015 Super 8 Bowl Championship for the summer season. Led by WR/DB/Return man Paul Haro, QB/DE Achilles Pulido, and Coach/Offensive Lineman Daniel Lopez the Bufalos  are coming into this winter season after having the league’s top rated defense and number 2 rated offense. A key to the Bufalos success is WR/DB Paul Haro’s return skills as he has led the league in kick returns the past 2 seasons.

Duo Sports Thundercats- The Thundercats are coming off their 4th consecutive finals appearance winning Super 8 Bowl’s II and III as well as last year’s Winter Bowl Championship, the Thundercats streak ended in Super 8 Bowl IV with a loss to the Bufalos. The Thundercats have reloaded for the fall season and are coming into the season with the leagues top rated offense led by QB Justin Mc Kenzie, WR Phillip Williams, and new addition WR Christian Osorio. The Thundercats which was the league’s second ranked defense is led by LB Arturo Rosales and DB Richard Osuna. The key to the Thundercats will be increasing their production on the ground QB Justin Mc Kenzie has led the team in Rushing TD’s the last 3 seasons and with RB’s Andrew Follins, Manny Pires, and Didier Valdez the T-Cats are looking to increase their production on the ground.

Diablos Ensenada- The Diablos have been active playing 11 man in the USA but have returned to Arena in Baja this year, the Diablos were the Super 8 I Bowl champions and runners up at Super 8 Bowl III. Led by QB Julin Malagamba and Defensive End Pepe Sanchez this veteran squad is is back and ready to compete for the championship. Keys to the Diablos season are finding new targets for QB Julin Malagamba as a few of their old stars have retired, lucky for the Diablos they still have a solid offensive line and a stong defense it will be interesting to see how they fair in the new more competetive Super 8.

All Blacks Tijuana- The All Blacks first season was last winter so this marks their 3rd season and 1 year anniversary of the team. The All Blacks have bee a play off qualifier since season 1 and have mixed it up with the best teams in the league however this year will be the toughest in this young team’s history as there are 5 solid teams fighting for only 4 play off spots. Keys to the All Blacks season will rely on breaking in a new QB and getting the ball to their top WR/DB Roberto Ramirez (also the league’s second leading  kick returner), and establishing their power run game with RB/DE Puma and LB/FB Palomilla.  Palomilla and LB Valdez  lead a solid run defense.

Siervos Tijuana- The Siervos are a defense first team led by LB Ruzzo and a host of solid defensive lineman, RB’s Abel Torres and Ever Lopez have been the top ball carriers for the Siervos for years in their mostly ground oriented offense. The Siervos have been a play off team since their days under previous names Aztecs and Galgos where they lost Super 8 Bowl I and have been smi finalist the past 2 summer seasons. This will be their first Fall/Winter season but the Siervos are coming off possibly their best season overall and are looking to push for their first championship. Keys to the Siervos Season are building a solid secondary to match their tough run defense and to find or develop a QB to add some passing to their solid ground game.

Krakens Rosarito- The Krakens are in their first season and have a lot to prove, they are a new team in a new city for the league and stepping into the league at a time when it will be the most competetive season in league history. Coach/Lineman Kevin Martinez is leading a young but tough group of youngsters who are looking to make a splash in the 5 year old league. We will learn alot about the Krakens this season as they will face all veteran teams with play off and championship experience. The keys to Krakens season is to just be competitive and learn the arena game.

All Blacks Tijuana El All Blacks primera temporada fue el pasado invierno por lo que esta marca su tercera temporada y 1 año de aniversario del equipo. The Duo Sports Thundercats sit at 4-0 heading into the final regular season game of the 2015 Super 8 Summer Season; Sunday, August 16 vs. Siervos Tijuana. The Siervos head into the season finale 2-2 and locked into the 4th seed in the play offs where they will face the #1 Thundercats again.

The other Semi-final the weekend of the 22nd will be the All-Blacks heading to Mexicali to face the #2 ranked Bufalos Mexicali. The Bufalos are 4-1 with their only loss coming to the Thundercats in the season opener in Rosarito.

In the 5th and 6th place relegation round the Cuervos Tijuana will face the Lynx Tijuana in a 2 game series also starting this weekend and finishing the following weekend

Los Duo Sports Thundercats quedan con una marca 4-0 en la ultima semana de la temporada regular de la Super 8 temporada verano y tienen su ultima partido contra los Siervos Tijuana. Los Siervos quedan con una marca 2-2 en 4to lugar para los play offs. En los play offs ellos van a jugar contra los Thundercats de nuevo.

La otra semi final para el fin de semana de Agosto 21,22,23 seria los All-Blacks Tijuan contra los Bufalos de Mexicali. Los Bufalos estan en segunda lugar con una marca 4-1 con su solo derrota en semana 1 contra los Thundercats en Rosarito.

En los play offs de relegacion los Cuervos de Tijuana juegan contra Lynx Tijuana el 15 de Agosto y el 22 de Agosto.

The Desert Sentinels were founded in 2014 and have quickly become a strong team in the Super 8, like the Thundercats the Sentinels play games in both the US and Mexico and in their short history have already managed to play against a Vegas team as well.

The Vegas Hawks are a new franchise in Las Vegas that started this year in Spring as members of the WWFL. This Summer they will be playing Arena in Vegas as well as in California before playing 11 man in the Fall along with the Thundercats in the Pac West Football League.
