On Saturday August 4th the Super 8 Seleccion consisting of players from the Ensenada Diablos, Tijuana Aztecs, Mexicali Astros, and San Diego Thundercats faced the UABC Ensenada Cimarrones at Valle Dorado Stadium in beautiful Ensenada, BC , Mexico.

This friendly game was to help the Cimarrones prepare for the upcoming college football season in Mexico and is an opportunity for the Super 8 Arena league to get together and play together before starting the first season of Arena football in Baja. The game went back and forth and had a great atmosphere with over 400 fans the Super 8 Seleccion just came up short 14 to 12 against UABC Ensenada.

The scoring began with Ensenada taking a 14 to 0 lead off os 2 short touchdown runs while the Seleccion who in it’s first game adjusted to being teammates and not being opponents. The Super 8 got on the board when Diablos RB/DB Javier Gutierrez scored on an interception return to cut the UABC Ensenada lead to 14-6 before half time. After halftime the Super 8 Seleccion switched to a more conventional I formation offense and controlled most of the time of possesion in the second half. After a scoreless  3rd quarter San Diego RB Andrew Follins scored to cut the score to 14-12. After trading the ball back and forth the Cimarrones held on escape with the 14-12 victory in a very tight game .

Super 8 will continue it’s pre season playing the UABC Tijuana team on August 11 at UABC Tijuana in Otay at 6 PM, Super 8 Football is growing fast come catch the excitement as we prepare to raise the level of football all around Baja California!!!

LA SELECCIÓN SUPER 8 VS CIMARRONES UABC ENSENADA

El sábado 4 de Agosto pasado la selección Super 8 la cual esta integrada por jugadores de los Diablos de Ensenada, Aztecs de Tijuana, Astros de Mexicali  y Thundercats de San Diego enfrentaron en un partido de práctica a los Cimarrones UABC campus Ensenada en un llego estadio de Valle Dorado en la hermosa ciudad de Ensenada Baja California.

El fin de llevar acabo este partido practica fue para ayudar a los Cimarrones para su preparación para su temporada 2012 en la liga Conadeip Premier y también fue oportunidad para que futuros rivales de la Liga Super 8 se integraran y se conocieran entre si antes de que empiece la temporada en Baja California. El partido se mostro muy parejo todo el tiempo, sin embargo la Selección Super 8 se quedo corta al anotar 12 punto contra 14 de los Cimarrones Ensenada, en una entrada espectacular con alrededor de 400 personas.

Cimarrones empezó anotando 14 puntos a 0 con dos carreras cortas, después las Selección Super 8 se puso en el marcador cuando Javier Gutierrez del equipo de Diablos Ensenada regreso una gran intercepción para anotación que le ayudo al equipo rojo a acercarse a los Cimarrones Ensenada  14 puntos a 6 antes del medio tiempo. Despues del medio tiempo la Selección Super 8 cambio la formación ofensiva por una convencional en donde tuvieron más posición del balón en lo que fue la segunda mitad. En el tercer cuarto el RB del equipo de San Diego Thundercats Andrew Follins anoto en una carrera corta 6 puntos para que el marcador se pusiera 14 puntos a 12. Despues de un juego tan parejo los Cimarrones se quedaron con la victoria 14 puntos a 12 en un juego muy cerrado.

La Super 8 Football League continuara su pretemporada jugando contra Cimarrones UABC campus Tijuana el Sabado 11 de Agosto de 2012 a las 6pm en Otay.

Game 1 saw the San Diego Thundercats take on the Tijuana Aztecs in the first game of the Super 8 Jamboree. The Aztecs jumped out in front and took a 6 -0 lead over the Thundercats. The Thundercats answered on their first play tying the game up and the game went back and forth with the Thundercats taking an 8-6 lead after a safety then the Aztecs jumping up 12-6 before the Thundercats started to roll. The Thundercats then went on a 36 point run before both teams trades TD’s at the end giving the Thundercats a 48-18 victory in the pre season match up.

Game 2 of the Jamboree saw the Tijuana Aztecs suit up for the second time and take on the Ensenada Diablos. The Diablos had an early miscue and for the second time that day the Aztecs took a 6-0 lead. The Diablos answered early and often and showed a solid offensive attack racking up 35 points while the Aztecs tallied up 20 in their second game of the day.

Overall it was a good start to the Super 8 pre season with the Ensenada and Tijuana teams both having strong starts to the season. With the Thundercats and Astros already established as arena teams since 2010 the fast approaching Super 8 season promises to be exciting!!!

Saturday July 21st the Super 8 Jamboree will take place at PlanetGol Furati located in Tijuana, BC, Mexico. Furati is home of the San Diego Thundercats and Tijuana Aztecs. The Aztecs, Thundercats, and Diablos from Ensenada will be facing off in a 3 way event as a warm up to the 2012 Super 8 season. Stay tuned for pictures and highlights from the first ever Super 8 Jamboree!!!

Starting in September and running through October the Super 8 Arena style football tournaments will be held throughout Baja and Southern California. Currently we have teams in Mexicali, San Diego, Tijuana, and Ensenada, with more looking to join in.

The current format will be very similar to that of Rugby 7’s which has each team hosting an all day event with all 4 teams playing in double headers.

Each team will play each team 1 time during Group play with the number 1 and 2 teams playing each other for the Championship and 3 and 4 teams playing in the 3rd place game.

EN OTOÑO DEL  2012 EMPIEZA TORNEO DE BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO Y CALIFORNIA, USA, SUPER 8 FOOTBALL.

Dicho torneo empezara de Septiembre a Octubre en las ciudades de Ensenada, Tijuana, Mexicali, Baja California México. Cada una de estas ciudades cuenta con equipos que representativos. También es importante mencionar que el equipo que fundó la liga es llamado San Diego Thundercats el cual utilizaran las instalaciones de Tijuana para sus juegos como locales.

El formato que se va a utilizar para la liga es muy parecido al que se utiliza en la liga de 7 contra 7 de Rugby. Se hace mencionar que las jornadas de los equipos serán completas en una sola ciudad a la vez, cada equipo tiene que visitar una vez a las ciudades mencionadas.

Al final de la temporada el que quede en la tabla rankeado como numero 1 y 2 pelearan por el campeonato, el que quede rankeado como numero 3  y 4 peleara por el tercer lugar.
